Preamble

THE SIKH GURDWARAS (SUPPLEMENTARY) ACT, 1925

PREAMBLE

An Act to supplement certain provisions of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925.

WHEREAS it is expedient to supplement, by legislation in the Indian Legislature, certain provisions of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925, for the purposes hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:

Section 1. Short title and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Sikh Gurdwaras (Supplementary-) Act, :1925.

(2) It shall come into force on the date [1st November, 1925; see Punjab Gazette, 1925, Pt.I, p.712.] appointed by the State Government under sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925.

Section 2. Validation of certain provisions of Punjab Act 8 of 1925

The Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall" so far as it adds to or takes from the jurisdiction Of the High Court of Judicature at1[Lahore] or prescribes the procedure of the said Court, be as valid as if it had been passed by the Indian Legislature.

In India, the High Court of Judicature for the State of Punjab-See the High Court (Punjab) Order, 1947 Arts. 3 and 5; Now known as the Punjab and Haryana High Court - which either formed part of the Punjab State or were included within its jurisdiction - See Act 26 of 1966 (1-5-1967), Act 53 of 1970, sections 21 and 25 (25-1-1971).


Section 3. Amendment of section 12, Punjab Act 8 of 1925 [Repealed]

Repealed by the Repealing Act, 1938 (1 of 1938), Section 2 and Schedule
